The knowledgeable Labor Relations staff of the Trust works closely with developers and contractors to foster their links with labor organizations. For developers, the Labor Relations staff offers assistance in identifying appropriate general contractors or construction managers. When requested by contractors or developers, the Trust's staff provides in-depth assistance with labor relations issues. It works with local AFL-CIO Building and Construction Trades Councils and representatives of the unions to foster partnerships between the parties and ensure a harmonious and economically sound venture. The staff also advises on structuring projects to meet cost considerations—demonstrating that use of the Trust's finance and investment products makes good business sense.
All types of projects have been highly successful in meeting the union labor objective - in every geographic region of the country, in urban and rural settings, and in developments ranging from office buildings to retail centers to apartments.
